Running for Hydration and Libations

Posted by CheapRunnerMichelle

It was an AWESOME long weekend!

While the boys started on the kids treehouse

The Construction Crew

CRR and I went running. On Saturday we did 9km...it was REALLY hot (especially since we waited until 4pm to head out on our run)...and being the tools smart gals we are - we didn't take any water with us (catch the sarcasm), but you can't beat the scenery

Ipperwash Beach

Our mistakes from Saturday were not going to happen again on Sunday - so we made sure to load up with our water and fuel for our 20/22km run

Gonna Make You Sweat

We left at a more respectable hour (10am) and decided that we would hydrate at 6km, 12km and 18km. This is my last super long run in my 1/2 marathon training (also my longest run since last November). It was a great time CRR and I got to chat the whole time (which really makes the km's fly by). While we were hydrating at km 12, neighbours drove by and even dropped off more water for us - which we eagerly accepted. By 17km I was really hot, and mentally done - but with another hydration break in sight - that's all I needed for a mental "reset" to finish up. We ran the last 2/4km on the beach, when we reached the 19.5km I high-fived CRR and told her she could speed ahead and get her last 2.5km done, and that I was cool running my last 1/2km on my own.

A successful run in the books

I did it!!!...and I gotta say that I was very pleased! It was just the boost of confidence that I needed to know that I can do this next 1/2 marathon I have coming up in 2 weeks!

Although there was another short run on Monday, the rest of the time was spent enjoying a few of these

Full of Pom Goodness

Wishing CRR a happy 35th

Mmmm....cake

Taking the kids for a dip

Next Coppertone Model?

K got to go to the annual bday tie-dye party

Our Hippy Child

We took this for a spin for the first time this year

Wastin' Away Again...

And we also got to enjoy/test out the (almost) finished treehouse

Treehouse Time

A big thank-you to Grandpa and Uncle Jon for all their hard work this weekend - that treehouse is sure to be the cottage neighbourhood hangout!

What did you do this past weekend?

For our American friends - what are your plans for your up-coming long weekend this week?
