A Post for My Mum

Posted by CheapRunnerMike

Mother's Day is coming up this Sunday. I am going to spend the morning running the 15K MEC race at Fanshawe Conservation Area, and I'm lucky enough that my Mum will be there as well running the 5K.

My Mum Chillin' at the Cottage

My Mum may not know it (because I don't tell her near enough), but I am very proud of her and the healthy changes she has made in her life over the years. She has quit smoking. She gets up early every morning to get her excersise in. She has taken up running. And she only drinks on weekends -- can't expect her to give it all up!

Messing around on a family night out...nice hair Kennedy!

Last Fall my Mum ran her first 5K race. Not only did she run the race, but she ran it with Kennedy and helped to push her through to the finish...just a small example of her selfless nature.

Crossing the Finish Line

My Mum really takes a beating from all of us kids...her Scottish accent is just such an easy target. She tolerates us most of the time and I think she realizes that we only bug her because we love her :)

Mum and her Girls

Every Monday night Mum will take one of her grandkids out on a date night, taking them swimming or to a movie...just something that she can do to spend time with little kiddies she loves so much.

Holding Kennedy for the First Time

Mum has always been there for all of us kids whenever we've needed her...whether it's helping out by taking the kids so we can go have a night out, always having dinner ready for us when we come up to the cottage after they've already got there, or even lending me the money to buy Michelle her engagement ring all those years ago...Mum is there in everything.

Making sure everyone else is taken care of

We all love you Mum and want to thank you for all the things you have done for us over the years. I love that you aren't just my Mum, but you are my friend. I love sitting on the porch on summer afternoons with you, drinking our G&T's...the great conversations that we just seem to fall into on those rare moments it is just the two of us. And I know that this is going to be a hard Mother's Day for you as well, since it is the first one without your Mum. Maybe it will be our turn to be there for you.

We miss you Nana

Happy Mother's Day Mum...
