Wow, summer is finally here…you know, in September
We are going through a real heat wave here in Southwestern Ontario and today the heat index will be creeping up to about 105°F. Needless to say, I will not be running at lunch today! I got out yesterday when the temps were cooler (only mid-90's) and I felt like I was melting into the sidewalk. The heat is supposed to break tomorrow though, meaning more seasonal cooler temperatures for my half on Sunday morning.
I'm going to head over to the Y at lunch and get in my first swim in nearly a month and I have to say that I am really looking forward to it. I need to try and get some sort of a swim stroke back before next weekend's triathlon, so there will be a few pool sessions over the next week…I've missed being in the water, but it has been hard to pass on running while the nice weather has been here. I grabbed this workout off of the Triathlete website, think I'll give it a try;
400 (swim/kick by 100)
400 pull (3/5 breathing pattern by 100)
16×25 w/ :10 rest (1 fast/1 easy)
4×125 w/ :30 rest (25 sprint/100 smooth)
4×75 pull w/15 rest (all strong)
300 swim with smooth, perfect technique
100 choice cool-down
We were off to the grocery store last night to pick up a couple of things and we decided to take the kids for some frozen yogurt afterwards. I'm pretty boring with my picks, usually opting for plain Greek yogurt with a few fresh berries, but Jackson knows how to do it up right. He had four flavours of yogurt (Greek, Mango, Chocolate and Acai Pomegranate) and then he topped them with marshmallows, gummy bears and chocolate sprinkles…kid knows how to do it!
Anyone been doing pool workouts lately?
Anybody else racing this weekend?
