Date Night and Other Goodies

Posted by CheapRunnerMike
There is more to the 3CheapRunners than just running; there’s also plenty of times we just like to eat, drink and be merry.  One night that CheapRunnerMichelle and I have consistently looked forward to over the last seven months is Wednesday night.  This is the night that Kennedy and Jackson go to the kid’s program at the church, therefore giving Mom & Dad an hour and a half to remember what it was like before children.
Our preferred activity for the last few months has been deliciously simple…coffee at Starbucks.  While I am a certified coffee lover, Michelle doesn’t touch the stuff…no worries though, she’s more than happy to indulge in her Passion Tea Lemonade or a Skinny Peppermint Mocha.

This is just a great time for the two of us to reconnect, something that seemingly doesn’t happen enough with our busy schedules.  I am a Starbucks gold card holder (it isn’t quite as exclusive as it sounds), which means that Michelle’s ‘fancy’ drink is usually free with my points, while I get a free refill on my brewed coffee…today’s dark roast in these parts is my favourite, Komodo Dragon, yum!
Once our coffee date is done we go pick up the kiddies and head back home…this usually means that Michelle get the kids to bed while I set to work on our Wednesday Date Night meal, my homemade BBQ Chicken pizza…yum again!  Then we will likely settle in to watch the latest additions to our PVR (probably Survivor).  Coffee, Pizza, Reality TV…who says romance is dead?

Switching gears back to running, I got out for a 10K run at lunch today…started out from work in downtown London and headed down the park trails towards Springbank.  Was one of the nicest days we have had in ages, great run.  I even got to wear the new Lulu shorts that Michelle got me as a “way to go on your half marathon” gift, check this sweet colour out…

Enjoy the weather folks, this is what we’ve been waiting all winter for.
