Hey folks! We saved my recap for last as it will be the least exciting one! Forgive me now as this will not be super detailed as for the most part I didn’t know where I was when I was running. I don’t consider myself a “serious” runner but at this race I felt like one!
Pre-race ritual happened! Spaghetti and Meatballs at Carabba’s.
After that is was early to bed and early to rise! Race morning-all set to go!
Michelle and I have decided that we always need to be twinsies at races…
We arrived at the Epcot centre and made our way to our respective corrals. I say I felt like a “serious” runner here because I was all the way up in corral A which felt very wrong. There were very few people dressed up in my corral and most people had their serious running face on.
I still can’t believe how many people want to do these races.
The view looking back from my corral
The race started and we were off with a bang! I had no expectations of myself for this race just to enjoy the run and get a few pics along the way.
I don’t usually stop at all during races but because I didn’t have any expectations of myself for this one, I stopped when I needed or wanted to.
My first stop was at the first set of port-a-potties (I had to stop another time later on also).
The first character stop was Jack Sparrow. I don’t know very many Disney Characters but this one I did know so I couldn’t resist.
The first couple water stations I passed through without stopping, thinking I didn’t need to. It was a lot warmer that was expected that morning and the humidity started to catch up with me so by the 3rd water station I needed to stop. I grabbed some water and walked to drink it all. I ended up doing this through almost all the rest of the water stations.
As I said earlier, I didn’t know where I was running for most of the race but I did know when I was entering the Magic Kingdom. The sign was a hint.
The castle was breathtaking, all lit up, as we came around the corner on main street.
The streets were lined with people cheering and clapping. It was kinda crazy!
I did manage to stop for 1 other character (no idea what it is called but I remembered it from one of Jackson’s iPad games).
After that character, I was feeling like I just wanted to get this run done so I decided to not stop at anymore and just keep going.
I ended up finishing in 1:53:51. I was glad to be done.
Received my medal, beverages, snack box and made my way to the reunion centre to wait for the others to finish. I ended up getting through almost all of my snacks while waiting…
All in all it was a lot of fun and I really did enjoy the run! Disney sure does know how to put on a good race! If you ever get the opportunity to participate in one, don’t turn it down! I hope to do more over the years!
Anyone racing Tinkerbell this weekend?
How many Disney Races have you done?
Would you stop for pics with all or some of the characters?
FYI, the gator is Louis the trumpet-playing jazzman (jazz gator?) from The Princess and the Frog. The iPad game you're thinking off is Where's My Water? and that is Swampy.
ReplyDeleteNow you know!
Glad you had a good time - love that you and Michelle like to be twins for races!!!
ReplyDeleteNo Disney races for me - actually, I've never even been to Disney.
Way to go girl! I love those outfits!! Mmm why do those skittles look so good right now...haha
ReplyDeleteI would love to do a Disney race sometime. I'd definitely be tempted to stop and get pictures with the characters, but I would be scared it would affect my time. Sad, right? lol. Jack Sparrow would definitely be worth it though. Excellent job on the race!
ReplyDeleteSo completely different characters?? I really don't know them lol
ReplyDeleteThanks Kim! People already think we are sisters so may as we'll go for twins lol
ReplyDeleteThanks! They were delicious and I enjoyed every single one of them!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heidi! You def need to go into these races with a different mentality.
ReplyDeleteSmokin' fast for a Disney race! Great job!! I stopped for a pic with Lilo & Stitch! 😜
ReplyDeleteThat's a super fast time, especially with potty stops and pictures! No wonder you were in corral A! I've never done a Disney race, maybe next year.
ReplyDeleteThanks Amanda! I didn't see LILO and Stictch. I do know who they are. I think I was running blind!!
ReplyDeleteAwww thanks Katie! I think you would really like a Disney race!
ReplyDeleteAwesome time! I remember a few weeks back you were nervous because you needed some more good runs in... look at you go! Awesome time and you even managed to stop for a few pics!
ReplyDeleteThanks Laura. It is amazing how the adrenaline kicks in for a race!
