Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On

Posted by CheapRunnerMike

It sure was a busy long weekend! We celebrated Canada Day and with it the 142nd birthday of our country...Happy Birthday, Canada! Like any birthday, there was a party...lots of people were up at the cottage this weekend which meant a workout for the septic tank very little down time to just relax. It was fun and all, but come Monday evening, when everyone else had set off for home, Michelle and I could finally just enjoy "now".

On the front porch, enjoying our "now"

So what is "now"? Simply put, it is just taking the time to enjoy nothing but the moment you are in and the people you are sharing that moment with. Last night our "now" was having a drink on the porch together as the day was winding down. A couple days earlier my "now" was my long run, and before that playing catch with Jackson. The true beauty of "now" is knowing when "now" is happening.

Like I said, it was a fun (and busy) weekend. I got in a great long run on Saturday, 30K and felt awesome afterwards.

I was also able to get out on a couple of good bike rides, one with my sister and another one with my brother in law.

Ready to Ride

I even found enough juice in my legs to run a 10K with my Cheap Runner girls right after my nearly 40K bike with my my brother in law.

The 3 Cheap Runners, off to run the Beach

A very full and fulfilling weekend for sure! And I got to keep up my enjoyment of "now" this morning as I rolled out of bed at 6:00 and set out for a run right away. I don't usually run right out of bed (which my legs constantly reminded me of), but it was really nice to run while the sun was coming up. I even took some pictures on my run for the first time ever...here's the scenery I ran to this morning.

Here are some words to remember as we try to live in the "now", from the master of chill time himself.

Did you get your wall squat done yesterday? We have started our July Challenge with the Chick and CRMichelle and I got ours in...didn't know what to expect, but Michelle pulled a minute and a half and I got up to two and a half minutes! Share your squats with us on Twitter and Instagram with the hash tag #sittogetfit

What are the "now" moments in your life?

What did you do for Canada Day? Or what do you plan to do for Independence Day?

you know, whenever I read this blog I'm always like: "there's an example of people doing life right" nothing better than appreciating beers on the porch after a long weekend of athletic activities!

  3. I love that you are enjoying your "now" time - that is actually pretty much what my New Year's Resolution was (to live in the present moment).
Awesome picture of the 3 CheapRunners!!!
Good luck on the wall-sit challenge!!! I don't do challenges often except with myself - in February I did a 1 minute wall-sit to correspond with the day. So by the 28th, I had to do 28 1-minute wall-sits - Good Times!!!

  5. Great resolution Kim, I hope you're enjoying living in your moments. That's crazy! 28 1-minute squats is tough...one minute is hard enough
