Happy Monday friends! It's been a crazy week and a half in my neck of the woods...as ya'll know I was in Chicago last week(end) for 5 days for work...and then this past Saturday I was up bright and early and on the road to head back to Chicago to get together with Katie (fromicecreamtomarathon.com). Needless to say I'm happy to be home and have lots of marvelous things to celebrate…so here’s my MIMM today
I convinced Mike to get out of bed in the middle of the night (aka 5:28am) on Friday morning...and we headed to his first EVER spin class. For me it was great to get back to my workouts...and it was nice to be able to go to something together. He said he really enjoyed the class...the only bummer is that he doesn't have a membership to the gym that I do my spin classes at...so I think we're going to have to look at the Y's schedule and see if there's a class in the evenings that we can work into our schedule to attend together. It makes me super happy that he enjoyed the class so much 'cause it's definitely one of my fav's!
This guy...he makes my life soooo incredibly marvelous!!! It was so special last week to have some time together, exploring and just being able to be together. There is nothing I'd rather be doing than hanging out with this dude. I am so thankful for him and the life that we have together...I realize how blessed we are, and I am so thankful for that each and every day.
Getting to actually spend time this weekend with a blogger friend! Katie and I actually got to meet last year when we were all in town for the Chicago marathon. When we met, there were a ton of other people there too, so we didn't get much of a chance to hang out together...we've stayed in touch by text and blogging (obviously)...and one night during the summer - she threw it out there (joking at the time) let's get together for drinks...and then we started talking about it...why not plan a trip together some weekend...so we did. We had a great time, getting to spend some one on one time together, learning more about each other, and exploring a great city
On Saturday night after dinner...we tried going to the Chicago Fire Festival (it was the anniversary if the Great Chicago fire back in 1871). When we got there though, there were literally ten's of thousands of people...that you couldn't see anything - so we didn't stay. Good decision on our part as they seemed to have a lot of problem igniting the barges that were suppose to burn (if you like you can read someone's blog post here about the fail they encountered). Then yesterday when we were out for a walk along the river...we can across the barely burned barges...so after all that we got to see them with no crowds!
Yesterday while we were out exploring, we made our way down to Navy Pier...and decided to go for a ride on the Ferris Wheel...it was a new-to-me Chicago activity...and it was so cool to get a bird's eye view of the city. The higher we got the windier it became...good thing I'm not afraid of heights
Thanks Katie for hosting today!
