As Pretty as They Get

Posted by Anonymous

This week, I decided I was going to take the week off of running. I have been doing a lot of races since March and put in a lot of “training” mileage so I thought it was time for a break. I am going to start back tomorrow with a nice leisure run and ease my way back in to running for the sake of running!

I didn’t go completely lazy….I took my bike out instead.

It was very enjoyable to do something different but not so enjoyable to realize my bike fitness sucks!!

Which got me thinking…that I would like to get more into biking. I started searching for bike fitness plan. There are sooo many plans out there!!! Most of them are 4 or 5 times per week. To commit to that I would have to give up running and I don’t want to do that, I just want to add more biking to my fitness rotation so I scrapped the bike fitness plan. I will just try to add 1 – 2 rides per week to my schedule. See, my plan of having no plans is best!!

The final straw that led me to giving up running for the week was my feet. Since I started running 3 years ago, I have never had a moment where I don’t have a black toe nail or a toe is not sore. My toes are in really rough shape. They needed a break. I went for a pedicure on Wednesday night to get them “taken care” of. I am embarrassed to say, the first girl gave up after 45 min of working on them and another girl took over. I did take a before new polish pic but I simply cannot share the before pic. It is awful. Here is the after shot. And this is as pretty as they get!

I was excited that they had a white polish which ironically covers up the black toes!!!

That’s all for today folks! Have a great weekend!!

Black toes anyone???

Tell me something that you are doing this weekend (besides running)

  1. I'm going to a baseball game Saturday night which will be fun, and non running!

My toes are the worst. They never ever ever look cute no matter what I do. I am going to get a pedicure next week before I leave for vacation but I know it is going to take forever for those girls to make my feet look somewhat presentable.

  4. I don't tend to have toe problems but my oldest son has been - they are pretty gross looking!
Enjoy your little running break and time on the bike!

I think it's always good to take a little break from running!
I had a black toenail once, and it wasn't even from running, it was from a hike which I wore horrible shoes for. The nail never fell off, it just grew out. Well your toes look pretty now, and I love your sandals!

That's awesome that you're going to try biking!! At some point I want to invest in a better bike (mine is from Target that I got in middle school...). Lol no black toe nails yet (knock on wood). I guess that means I'm not running enough ;)
