We Were Dumped On

Posted by CheapRunnerMichelle

Ugh...have I ever told you before that I hate the snow (remind me again why I live in Canada?!?)...and we sure got dumped on this weekend - 1.5ft to be exact...and really only in the city we live in. On Saturday night after I was done work we had decided to head up to the cottage (I hadn't been up since Labour Day weekend) to just check everything out...turns out that was a great decision...because Sunday morning we woke up to frigid temperatures but this was our view outdoors

Unlike our house back at home...that looked like this

Sunday afternoon I was able to get out for a chilly 5km with my MIL. My watch wouldn't link to the satellite...so you just get a pic of me in my running gear (and not one that includes my run summary - #sorryiamnotsorry)

So needless to say an even bigger workout was in store for us when we got home Sunday evening and we had to dig ourselves into our house

The other month this pretty gal started making weekly goals and rewards for herself - and I loved the idea, and thought that I would use it to start getting myself back in track. So here are my goals for this week:

- run 3 days
- do 3 other workouts (DVD, aquafit, BodyPump etc.)
- keep a food journal
- pre-plan my meals to make sure I am making good food choices
- no dt.coke during the week

Now I need your help...I need some ideas of "rewards" I can use to treat myself for these weekly goals...what are your ideas for me?

Anyone else get dumped on this weekend?

What did you do this weekend?

  1. Yuck to all that snow!!! Thankfully we didn't have any snow but it was brutally cold (teens with high under 30).
Maybe your rewards could be pedi/mani/massages - spa stuff.

  2. Holy snow! I guess I shouldn't complain that we got a few inches!! Good for you for getting out there with your MIL- it definitely helps going out when its cruddy outside knowing you have someone with you (misery loves company right?)

Thanks for the shoutout lady! The mini goals are working really well to help keep me motivated:) I like your goals for the week, all great and definitely achievable! Making the rewards pertaining to the following week helps. Example-- my reward for my goals this week is to get a new outfit for California since I leave next weekend!

  3. Holy is snow is right - I think I need to get out my hairdryer and try and melt it ;)
That's a good idea - so maybe like a new vest I can wear running or a pair of running tights!

  4. You can do it!! They have a groupon on right now for two shellac manis and two regular polish pedis at some spa over near Berkshire for $50. Could be a sweet little treat:)

  5. It snowed a little bit here but it was mainly ice. My kids were disappointed.

  6. Wow you really got dumped on! Tomorrow our part of MD is suppose to get a wintery mix. Ugh. I can handle snow, but I do not like the ice part!! Love your goals. Rewards can be fun too!

  8. Look at all that snow! I love the goals! Treats...running headbands...or shoes! I always find an excuse to buy new running stuff. Or...Christmas candles....or...nail polish! I could go on... :-)
